This week, we continued our series in Daniel with a message from Daniel 10 titled “Strengthened to Stand.”
We may not see the spiritual battle around us, but we can stand firm because our strength comes from God.
Daniel 10 gives us a glimpse into the unseen spiritual reality around us. But God doesn’t reveal these things to make us obsessed with the enemy. He reveals them to help us remain faithful to Him. Here are five important takeaways from Sunday’s message.
1. A Disciple Is Anchored in What God Has Revealed
Daniel didn’t respond to God’s revelation by trying to figure out everything God hadn’t revealed. He drew closer to God. As disciples, we must learn to live faithfully in the tension between what God has revealed and what remains unknown.
We don’t need a new revelation to obey an old command.
God has already told us to love Him, love people, pursue holiness, forgive, make disciples, and proclaim the Gospel. Rather than becoming consumed with unanswered questions, we must remain anchored in His Word and obedient to what He has already called us to do.
2. A Disciple Seeks God in Prayer
Daniel prayed for three weeks without seeing any visible change. Yet the messenger told him that God had heard him from the very first day.
God’s silence is not the same thing as God’s absence.
Prayer teaches us to trust God before we see what He is doing. Whether we’re praying for our marriage, our children, a friend to come to Christ, or a difficult situation that hasn’t changed, we can continue seeking God because our confidence isn’t in what we see, but in the God who hears us.
3. A Disciple Recognizes the Battle Without Becoming Obsessed With It
Scripture makes it clear that spiritual warfare is real. We must not ignore it, but neither should we become consumed by it.
The enemy can use both ignorance and obsession to distract us from the God who gives us strength. If we dismiss spiritual warfare, we neglect what Scripture teaches. If we become fixated on it, we can lose sight of what God has actually called us to do.
The enemy doesn’t have to destroy your faith to diminish your influence.
We must recognize the battle without losing sight of the mission. Our focus isn’t on analyzing everything we cannot see, but on depending on God and remaining faithful to Him.
4. A Disciple Receives Strength From God
When Daniel encountered the overwhelming reality of what God revealed, his own strength failed him. But God didn’t leave him there. He touched Daniel, strengthened him, and told him, “Fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.”
Daniel didn’t say, “I found strength within myself.” He said, “You have strengthened me.”
Spiritual maturity isn’t about becoming so strong that we need God less. It’s about recognizing our weakness and depending on Him more. We need His strength to love our families, forgive those who hurt us, persevere through suffering, and stand firm in our faith.
God’s Word, prayer, worship, and the church aren’t religious accessories. They are means through which God forms us and teaches us to depend on Him.
5. A Strengthened Disciple Remains Faithful
God’s strength isn’t merely for our comfort, but for our calling. The purpose of spiritual strength isn’t simply survival. The purpose is faithfulness.
Daniel lived through different kings, governments, threats, and cultural pressures. Yet he kept praying, serving, obeying, trusting, and standing.
That’s what discipleship looks like—not just one great moment of faith, but a lifetime of faithful moments.
We want to be a church full of people who remain faithful when marriage is difficult, parenting is exhausting, work is frustrating, prayers seem unanswered, and we don’t understand what God is doing.
God strengthens us so we can keep doing what He has called us to do.
As we go into this week, remember: the world may not understand everything happening in your life, but people will see how you respond when life gets hard. When your faith endures suffering and uncertainty, your perseverance becomes a testimony.
Don’t live in ignorance. Don’t live in obsession. Live in dependence upon God.
Know His Word. Seek Him in prayer. Recognize the battle. Receive His strength. And remain faithful to what He has called you to do.
Let’s be a people who are strengthened by God to stand firm in a shifting world.
